GNE-ERP27 Fusion FISH Probe
The GNE-ERP27 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GNE and ERP27 genes. The fusion of the GNE and ERP27 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

GNE Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a bifunctional enzyme that initiates and regulates the biosynthesis of N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc), a precursor of sialic acids. It is a rate-limiting enzyme in the sialic acid biosynthetic pathway. Sialic acid modification of cell surface molecules is crucial for their function in many biologic processes, including cell adhesion and signal transduction. Differential sialylation of cell surface molecules is also implicated in the tumorigenicity and metastatic behavior of malignant cells. Mutations in this gene are associated with sialuria, autosomal recessive inclusion body myopathy, and Nonaka myopathy. Alternative splicing of this gene results in transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Glucosamine (UDP-N-acetyl)-2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine Kinase
Chromosome: CHR9: 36214438 -36277053
Locus: 9p13.3
ERP27 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a noncatalytic member of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins. The canonical protein has an N-terminal signal sequence, two thioredoxin (TRX)-like domains and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms; some of which lack domains present in the canonical protein. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]
Gene Name: Endoplasmic Reticulum Protein 27
