GFPT1-NFU1 Fusion FISH Probe
The GFPT1-NFU1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GFPT1 and NFU1 genes. The fusion of the GFPT1 and NFU1 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma, Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma , and Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GFPT1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes the first and rate-limiting enzyme of the hexosamine pathway and controls the flux of glucose into the hexosamine pathway. The product of this gene catalyzes the formation of glucosamine 6-phosphate. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]
Gene Name: Glutamine--fructose-6-phosphate Transaminase 1
Chromosome: CHR2: 69546904 -69614382
Locus: 2p13.3
NFU1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is localized to mitochondria and plays a critical role in iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis. The encoded protein assembles and transfers 4Fe-4S clusters to target apoproteins including succinate dehydrogenase and lipoic acid synthase. Mutations in this gene are a cause of multiple mitochondrial dysfunctions syndrome-1, and pseudogenes of this gene are located on the short arms of chromosomes 1 and 3. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
Gene Name: NFU1 Iron-sulfur Cluster Scaffold
Chromosome: CHR2: 69623252 -69664753
Locus: 2p13.3
