GATAD2B-KCNN3 Fusion FISH Probe

The GATAD2B-KCNN3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GATAD2B and KCNN3 genes. The fusion of the GATAD2B and KCNN3 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma, and Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KCNN3 Gene Summary

Action potentials in vertebrate neurons are followed by an afterhyperpolarization (AHP) that may persist for several seconds and may have profound consequences for the firing pattern of the neuron. Each component of the AHP is kinetically distinct and is mediated by different calcium-activated potassium channels. This gene belongs to the KCNN family of potassium channels. It encodes an integral membrane protein that forms a voltage-independent calcium-activated channel, which is thought to regulate neuronal excitability by contributing to the slow component of synaptic AHP. This gene contains two CAG repeat regions in the coding sequence. It was thought that expansion of one or both of these repeats could lead to an increased susceptibility to schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, but studies indicate that this is probably not the case. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Gene Name: Potassium Calcium-activated Channel Subfamily N Member 3

Chromosome: CHR1: 154669941 -154842754

Locus: 1q21.3

GATAD2B Gene Summary

This gene encodes a zinc finger protein transcriptional repressor. The encoded protein is part of the methyl-CpG-binding protein-1 complex, which represses gene expression by deacetylating methylated nucleosomes. Mutations in this gene are linked to intellectual disability and dysmorphic features associated with cognitive disability. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2016]

Gene Name: GATA Zinc Finger Domain Containing 2B

Chromosome: CHR1: 153777202 -153895451

Locus: 1q21.3
