GAS2-SOX6 Fusion FISH Probe
The GAS2-SOX6 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GAS2 and SOX6 genes. The fusion of the GAS2 and SOX6 genes has been associated with Kidney Chromophobe. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GAS2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a caspase-3 substrate that plays a role in regulating microfilament and cell shape changes during apoptosis. It can also modulate cell susceptibility to p53-dependent apoptosis by inhibiting calpain activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2017]
Gene Name: Growth Arrest Specific 2
Chromosome: CHR11: 22688159 -22834547
Locus: 11p14.3
SOX6 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the D subfamily of sex determining region y-related transcription factors that are characterized by a conserved DNA-binding domain termed the high mobility group box and by their ability to bind the minor groove of DNA. The encoded protein is a transcriptional activator that is required for normal development of the central nervous system, chondrogenesis and maintenance of cardiac and skeletal muscle cells. The encoded protein interacts with other family members to cooperatively activate gene expression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]
Gene Name: SRY-box 6
