GABPB1-TRPM7 Fusion FISH Probe

The GABPB1-TRPM7 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GABPB1 and TRPM7 genes. The fusion of the GABPB1 and TRPM7 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GABPB1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes the GA-binding protein transcription factor, beta subunit. This protein forms a tetrameric complex with the alpha subunit, and stimulates transcription of target genes. The encoded protein may be involved in activation of cytochrome oxidase expression and nuclear control of mitochondrial function. The crystal structure of a similar protein in mouse has been resolved as a ternary protein complex. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Gene Name: GA Binding Protein Transcription Factor Beta Subunit 1

Chromosome: CHR15: 50569388 -50647605

Locus: 15q21.2

TRPM7 Gene Summary

This gene belongs to the melastatin subfamily of transient receptor potential family of ion channels. The protein encoded by this gene is both an ion channel and a serine/threonine protein kinase. The kinase activity is essential for the ion channel function, which serves to increase intracellular calcium levels and to help regulate magnesium ion homeostasis. The encoded protein is involved in cytoskeletal organization, cell adhesion, cell migration and organogenesis. Defects in this gene are a cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-parkinsonism/dementia complex of Guam. The gene may also be associated with defects of cardiac function. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]

Gene Name: Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily M Member 7

Chromosome: CHR15: 50849351 -50979012

Locus: 15q21.2
