FTO-RBL2 Fusion FISH Probe

The FTO-RBL2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FTO and RBL2 genes. The fusion of the FTO and RBL2 genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RBL2 Gene Summary

The RB Transcriptional Corepressor Like 2 (RBL2) gene is located on chr16 :53468350-53525560 at 16q12.2.

Gene Name: RB Transcriptional Corepressor Like 2

Chromosome: CHR16: 53468350 -53525560

Locus: 16q12.2

FTO Gene Summary

This gene is a nuclear protein of the AlkB related non-haem iron and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase superfamily but the exact physiological function of this gene is not known. Other non-heme iron enzymes function to reverse alkylated DNA and RNA damage by oxidative demethylation. Studies in mice and humans indicate a role in nervous and cardiovascular systems and a strong association with body mass index, obesity risk, and type 2 diabetes. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Gene Name: FTO, Alpha-ketoglutarate Dependent Dioxygenase

Chromosome: CHR16: 53737874 -54148379

Locus: 16q12.2
