FRAS1-MGST2 Fusion FISH Probe
The FRAS1-MGST2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FRAS1 and MGST2 genes. The fusion of the FRAS1 and MGST2 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MGST2 Gene Summary
The MAPEG (Membrane Associated Proteins in Eicosanoid and Glutathione metabolism) family consists of six human proteins, several of which are involved in the production of leukotrienes and prostaglandin E, important mediators of inflammation. This gene encodes a protein which catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 and reduced glutathione to produce leukotriene C4. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
Gene Name: Microsomal Glutathione S-transferase 2
Chromosome: CHR4: 140586921 -140661899
Locus: 4q31.1
FRAS1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an extracellular matrix protein that appears to function in the regulation of epidermal-basement membrane adhesion and organogenesis during development. Mutations in this gene cause Fraser syndrome, a multisystem malformation that can include craniofacial, urogenital and respiratory system abnormalities. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
Gene Name: Fraser Extracellular Matrix Complex Subunit 1
Chromosome: CHR4: 78978723 -79465423
Locus: 4q21.21
