FNIP1-IL5 Fusion FISH Probe
The FNIP1-IL5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FNIP1 and IL5 genes. The fusion of the FNIP1 and IL5 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

IL5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. The encoded cytokine plays a major role in the regulation of eosinophil formation, maturation, recruitment and survival. The increased production of this cytokine may be related to pathogenesis of eosinophil-dependent inflammatory diseases. This cytokine functions by binding to its receptor, which is a heterodimer, whose beta subunit is shared with the receptors for interleukine 3 (IL3) and colony stimulating factor 2 (CSF2/GM-CSF). This gene is located on chromosome 5 within a cytokine gene cluster which includes interleukin 4 (IL4), interleukin 13 (IL13), and CSF2 . This gene, IL4, and IL13 may be regulated coordinately by long-range regulatory elements spread over 120 kilobases on chromosome 5q31. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Locus: 5q31.1
FNIP1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that binds to the tumor suppressor protein folliculin and to AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). The encoded protein participates in the regulation of cellular metabolism and nutrient sensing by modulating the AMPK and target of rapamycin signaling pathways. This gene has a closely related paralog that encodes a protein with similar binding activities. Both related proteins also associate with the molecular chaperone heat shock protein-90 (Hsp90) and negatively regulate its ATPase activity and facilitate its association with folliculin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]
Gene Name: Folliculin Interacting Protein 1
Chromosome: CHR5: 130977406 -131132756
Locus: 5q31.1
