FHIT-CAMK4 Fusion FISH Probe
The FHIT-CAMK4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FHIT and CAMK4 genes. The fusion of the FHIT and CAMK4 genes has been associated with Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CAMK4 Gene Summary
The product of this gene belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family, and to the Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily. This enzyme is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase with limited tissue distribution, that has been implicated in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons and male germ cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Calcium/calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase IV
Chromosome: CHR5: 110559946 -110820748
Locus: 5q22.1
FHIT Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a P1-P3-bis(5'-adenosyl) triphosphate hydrolase involved in purine metabolism. This gene encompasses the common fragile site FRA3B on chromosome 3, where carcinogen-induced damage can lead to translocations and aberrant transcripts. In fact, aberrant transcripts from this gene have been found in about half of all esophageal, stomach, and colon carcinomas. The encoded protein is also a tumor suppressor, as loss of its activity results in replication stress and DNA damage. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
Gene Name: Fragile Histidine Triad
Chromosome: CHR3: 59735035 -61237133
Locus: 3p14.2
