FARS2-RIPK1 Fusion FISH Probe
The FARS2-RIPK1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FARS2 and RIPK1 genes. The fusion of the FARS2 and RIPK1 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RIPK1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the receptor-interacting protein (RIP) family of serine/threonine protein kinases. The encoded protein plays a role in inflammation and cell death in response to tissue damage, pathogen recognition, and as part of developmental regulation. RIPK1/RIPK3 kinase-mediated necrosis is referred to as necroptosis. Genetic disruption of this gene in mice results in death shortly after birth. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
Gene Name: Receptor Interacting Serine/threonine Kinase 1
Chromosome: CHR6: 3077057 -3115421
Locus: 6p25.2
FARS2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that transfers phenylalanine to its cognate tRNA. This protein localizes to the mitochondrion and plays a role in mitochondrial protein translation. Mutations in this gene can cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 14 (Alpers encephalopathy). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
Gene Name: Phenylalanyl-tRNA Synthetase 2, Mitochondrial
Chromosome: CHR6: 5261583 -5771816
Locus: 6p25.1
