FARS2-KPNA4 Fusion FISH Probe
The FARS2-KPNA4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FARS2 and KPNA4 genes. The fusion of the FARS2 and KPNA4 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

KPNA4 Gene Summary
The nuclear import of karyophilic proteins is directed by short amino acid sequences termed nuclear localization signals (NLSs). Karyopherins, or importins, are cytoplasmic proteins that recognize NLSs and dock NLS-containing proteins to the nuclear pore complex. The protein encoded by this gene shares the sequence similarity with Xenopus importin-alpha and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Srp1. This protein is found to interact with the NLSs of DNA helicase Q1 and SV40 T antigen. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Karyopherin Subunit Alpha 4
Chromosome: CHR3: 160212782 -160283376
Locus: 3q25.33
FARS2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that transfers phenylalanine to its cognate tRNA. This protein localizes to the mitochondrion and plays a role in mitochondrial protein translation. Mutations in this gene can cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 14 (Alpers encephalopathy). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
Gene Name: Phenylalanyl-tRNA Synthetase 2, Mitochondrial
Chromosome: CHR6: 5261583 -5771816
Locus: 6p25.1
