FAF1-HOOK1 Fusion FISH Probe
The FAF1-HOOK1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the FAF1 and HOOK1 genes. The fusion of the FAF1 and HOOK1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

FAF1 Gene Summary
Interaction of Fas ligand (TNFSF6) with the FAS antigen (TNFRSF6) mediates programmed cell death, also called apoptosis, in a number of organ systems. The protein encoded by this gene binds to FAS antigen and can initiate apoptosis or enhance apoptosis initiated through FAS antigen. Initiation of apoptosis by the protein encoded by this gene requires a ubiquitin-like domain but not the FAS-binding domain. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Fas Associated Factor 1
Chromosome: CHR1: 50906934 -51425936
Locus: 1p32.3
HOOK1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the hook family of coiled-coil proteins, which bind to microtubules and organelles through their N- and C-terminal domains, respectively. The encoded protein localizes to discrete punctuate subcellular structures, and interacts with several members of the Rab GTPase family involved in endocytosis. It is thought to link endocytic membrane trafficking to the microtubule cytoskeleton. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Hook Microtubule Tethering Protein 1
Chromosome: CHR1: 60280532 -60342050
Locus: 1p32.1
