EXT2-ALKBH3 Fusion FISH Probe
The EXT2-ALKBH3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EXT2 and ALKBH3 genes. The fusion of the EXT2 and ALKBH3 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma, and Pheochromocytoma And Paraganglioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

EXT2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes one of two glycosyltransferases involved in the chain elongation step of heparan sulfate biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene cause the type II form of multiple exostoses. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Exostosin Glycosyltransferase 2
Chromosome: CHR11: 44117098 -44266980
Locus: 11p11.2
ALKBH3 Gene Summary
The Escherichia coli AlkB protein protects against the cytotoxicity of methylating agents by repair of the specific DNA lesions generated in single-stranded DNA. ALKBH2 (MIM 610602) and ALKBH3 are E. coli AlkB homologs that catalyze the removal of 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine (Duncan et al., 2002 [PubMed 12486230]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene Name: AlkB Homolog 3, Alpha-ketoglutaratedependent Dioxygenase
Chromosome: CHR11: 43902356 -43941825
Locus: 11p11.2
