ETNK1-CMAS Fusion FISH Probe
The ETNK1-CMAS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ETNK1 and CMAS genes. The fusion of the ETNK1 and CMAS genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ETNK1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an ethanolamine kinase, which functions in the first committed step of the phosphatidylethanolamine synthesis pathway. This cytosolic enzyme is specific for ethanolamine and exhibits negligible kinase activity on choline. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Ethanolamine Kinase 1
Chromosome: CHR12: 22778075 -22843608
Locus: 12p12.1
CMAS Gene Summary
This gene encodes an enzyme that converts N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNAc) to cytidine 5'-monophosphate N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-NeuNAc). This process is important in the formation of sialylated glycoprotein and glycolipids. This modification plays a role in cell-cell communications and immune responses. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]
Gene Name: Cytidine Monophosphate N-acetylneuraminic Acid Synthetase
Chromosome: CHR12: 22199158 -22218602
Locus: 12p12.1
