ERC1-WNK1 Fusion FISH Probe
The ERC1-WNK1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ERC1 and WNK1 genes. The fusion of the ERC1 and WNK1 genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma, and Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ERC1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a family of RIM-binding proteins. RIMs are active zone proteins that regulate neurotransmitter release. This gene has been found fused to the receptor-type tyrosine kinase gene RET by gene rearrangement due to the translocation t(10;12)(q11;p13) in thyroid papillary carcinoma. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
Gene Name: ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST Family Member 1
Chromosome: CHR12: 1100403 -1605099
Locus: 12p13.33
WNK1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the WNK subfamily of serine/threonine protein kinases. The encoded protein may be a key regulator of blood pressure by controlling the transport of sodium and chloride ions. Mutations in this gene have been associated with pseudohypoaldosteronism type II and hereditary sensory neuropathy type II. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described but the full-length nature of all of them has yet to be determined.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Name: WNK Lysine Deficient Protein Kinase 1
Chromosome: CHR12: 862088 -1020618
Locus: 12p13.33
