ERC1-GPC5 Fusion FISH Probe
The ERC1-GPC5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ERC1 and GPC5 genes. The fusion of the ERC1 and GPC5 genes has been associated with Rectum Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

GPC5 Gene Summary
Cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans are composed of a membrane-associated protein core substituted with a variable number of heparan sulfate chains. Members of the glypican-related integral membrane proteoglycan family (GRIPS) contain a core protein anchored to the cytoplasmic membrane via a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol linkage. These proteins may play a role in the control of cell division and growth regulation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Glypican 5
Chromosome: CHR13: 92050934 -93519487
Locus: 13q31.3
ERC1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a family of RIM-binding proteins. RIMs are active zone proteins that regulate neurotransmitter release. This gene has been found fused to the receptor-type tyrosine kinase gene RET by gene rearrangement due to the translocation t(10;12)(q11;p13) in thyroid papillary carcinoma. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
Gene Name: ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST Family Member 1
Chromosome: CHR12: 1100403 -1605099
Locus: 12p13.33
