EPN2-PIBF1 Fusion FISH Probe
The EPN2-PIBF1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EPN2 and PIBF1 genes. The fusion of the EPN2 and PIBF1 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PIBF1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is induced by the steroid hormone progesterone and plays a role in the maintenance of pregnancy. The encoded protein regulates multiple facets of the immune system to promote normal pregnancy including cytokine synthesis, natural killer (NK) cell activity, and arachidonic acid metabolism. Low serum levels of this protein have been associated with spontaneous pre-term labor in humans. This protein may promote the proliferation, migration and invasion of glioma. Gene Name: Progesterone Immunomodulatory Binding Factor 1
Chromosome: CHR13: 73356229 -73590591
Locus: 13q21.33-q22.1
EPN2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein which interacts with clathrin and adaptor-related protein complex 2, alpha 1 subunit. The protein is found in a brain-derived clathrin-coated vesicle fraction and localizes to the peri-Golgi region and the cell periphery. The protein is thought to be involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Gene Name: Epsin 2
Chromosome: CHR17: 19140689 -19240028
Locus: 17p11.2
