EPC1-AKR1E2 Fusion FISH Probe
The EPC1-AKR1E2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EPC1 and AKR1E2 genes. The fusion of the EPC1 and AKR1E2 genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

EPC1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the polycomb group (PcG) family. The encoded protein is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex and can act as both a transcriptional activator and repressor. The encoded protein has been linked to apoptosis, DNA repair, skeletal muscle differentiation, gene silencing, and adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]
Gene Name: Enhancer Of Polycomb Homolog 1
Chromosome: CHR10: 32557858 -32636113
Locus: 10p11.22
AKR1E2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the aldo-keto reductase superfamily. Members in this family are characterized by their structure (evolutionarily highly conserved TIM barrel) and function (NAD(P)H-dependent oxido-reduction of carbonyl groups). Transcripts of this gene have been reported in specimens of human testis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]
Gene Name: Aldo-keto Reductase Family 1 Member E2
Chromosome: CHR10: 4868401 -4890251
Locus: 10p15.1
