EML4-VPS54 Fusion FISH Probe
The EML4-VPS54 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EML4 and VPS54 genes. The fusion of the EML4 and VPS54 genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

EML4 Gene Summary
This gene is a member of the echinoderm microtubule associated protein-like family. The encoded WD-repeat protein may be involved in microtubule formation. Abnormal fusion of parts of this gene with portions of the anaplastic lymphoma receptor tyrosine kinase gene, which generates EML4-ALK fusion transcripts, is one of the primary mutations associated with non-small cell lung cancer. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Gene Name: Echinoderm Microtubule Associated Protein Like 4
Chromosome: CHR2: 42396489 -42559688
Locus: 2p21
VPS54 Gene Summary
This gene encodes for a protein that in yeast forms part of a trimeric vacuolar-protein-sorting complex that is required for retrograde transport of proteins from prevacuoles to the late Golgi compartment. As in yeast, mammalian Vps54 proteins contain a coiled-coil region and dileucine motifs. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: VPS54, GARP Complex Subunit
Chromosome: CHR2: 64119666 -64246214
Locus: 2p15-p14
