EIF4G3-ECE1 Fusion FISH Probe

The EIF4G3-ECE1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EIF4G3 and ECE1 genes. The fusion of the EIF4G3 and ECE1 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Lung Adenocarcinoma, Brain Lower Grade Glioma, and Uterine Carcinosarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ECE1 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in proteolytic processing of endothelin precursors to biologically active peptides. Mutations in this gene are associated with Hirschsprung disease, cardiac defects and autonomic dysfunction. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Gene Name: Endothelin Converting Enzyme 1

Chromosome: CHR1: 21543739 -21672034

Locus: 1p36.12

EIF4G3 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is thought to be part of the eIF4F protein complex, which is involved in mRNA cap recognition and transport of mRNAs to the ribosome. Interestingly, a microRNA (miR-520c-3p) has been found that negatively regulates synthesis of the encoded protein, and this leads to a global decrease in protein translation and cell proliferation. Therefore, this protein is a key component of the anti-tumor activity of miR-520c-3p. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]

Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 4 Gamma 3

Chromosome: CHR1: 21132784 -21503381

Locus: 1p36.12
