EIF2AK1-MAP2K5 Fusion FISH Probe
The EIF2AK1-MAP2K5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EIF2AK1 and MAP2K5 genes. The fusion of the EIF2AK1 and MAP2K5 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

MAP2K5 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase kinase family. This kinase specifically interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. This kinase itself can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms (aPKCs). The signal cascade mediated by this kinase is involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
Gene Name: Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Kinase 5
Chromosome: CHR15: 67835020 -68099455
Locus: 15q23
EIF2AK1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene acts at the level of translation initiation to downregulate protein synthesis in response to stress. The encoded protein is a kinase that can be inactivated by hemin. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2 Alpha Kinase 1
Chromosome: CHR7: 6061877 -6098860
Locus: 7p22.1
