EGFR-ERP44 Fusion FISH Probe
The EGFR-ERP44 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EGFR and ERP44 genes. The fusion of the EGFR and ERP44 genes has been associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

EGFR Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is a member of the protein kinase superfamily. This protein is a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family. EGFR is a cell surface protein that binds to epidermal growth factor. Binding of the protein to a ligand induces receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation and leads to cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are associated with lung cancer. Gene Name: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor
Chromosome: CHR7: 55086724 -55275031
Locus: 7p11.2
ERP44 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins. It has an inferred N-terminal signal peptide, a catalytically active thioredoxin (TRX) domain, two TRX-like domains and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. This protein functions as a pH-regulated chaperone of the secretory pathway and likely plays a role in protein quality control at the endoplasmic reticulum - Golgi interface. Gene Name: Endoplasmic Reticulum Protein 44
Chromosome: CHR9: 102741462 -102861330
Locus: 9q31.1
