EGFR-ACADM Fusion FISH Probe
The EGFR-ACADM Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the EGFR and ACADM genes. The fusion of the EGFR and ACADM genes has been associated with Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma . These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

ACADM Gene Summary
This gene encodes the medium-chain specific (C4 to C12 straight chain) acyl-Coenzyme A dehydrogenase. The homotetramer enzyme catalyzes the initial step of the mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. Defects in this gene cause medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, a disease characterized by hepatic dysfunction, fasting hypoglycemia, and encephalopathy, which can result in infantile death. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Medium Chain
Chromosome: CHR1: 76190042 -76229355
Locus: 1p31.1
EGFR Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is a member of the protein kinase superfamily. This protein is a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family. EGFR is a cell surface protein that binds to epidermal growth factor. Binding of the protein to a ligand induces receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation and leads to cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are associated with lung cancer. Gene Name: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor
Chromosome: CHR7: 55086724 -55275031
Locus: 7p11.2
