DPYD-ALKBH3 Fusion FISH Probe
The DPYD-ALKBH3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the DPYD and ALKBH3 genes. The fusion of the DPYD and ALKBH3 genes has been associated with Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

DPYD Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a pyrimidine catabolic enzyme and the initial and rate-limiting factor in the pathway of uracil and thymidine catabolism. Mutations in this gene result in dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase deficiency, an error in pyrimidine metabolism associated with thymine-uraciluria and an increased risk of toxicity in cancer patients receiving 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]
Gene Name: Dihydropyrimidine Dehydrogenase
Chromosome: CHR1: 97543299 -98386615
Locus: 1p21.3
ALKBH3 Gene Summary
The Escherichia coli AlkB protein protects against the cytotoxicity of methylating agents by repair of the specific DNA lesions generated in single-stranded DNA. ALKBH2 (MIM 610602) and ALKBH3 are E. coli AlkB homologs that catalyze the removal of 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine (Duncan et al., 2002 [PubMed 12486230]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene Name: AlkB Homolog 3, Alpha-ketoglutaratedependent Dioxygenase
Chromosome: CHR11: 43902356 -43941825
Locus: 11p11.2
