DOLPP1-SPTAN1 Fusion FISH Probe

The DOLPP1-SPTAN1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the DOLPP1 and SPTAN1 genes. The fusion of the DOLPP1 and SPTAN1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

SPTAN1 Gene Summary

Spectrins are a family of filamentous cytoskeletal proteins that function as essential scaffold proteins that stabilize the plasma membrane and organize intracellular organelles. Spectrins are composed of alpha and beta dimers that associate to form tetramers linked in a head-to-head arrangement. This gene encodes an alpha spectrin that is specifically expressed in nonerythrocytic cells. The encoded protein has been implicated in other cellular functions including DNA repair and cell cycle regulation. Mutations in this gene are the cause of early infantile epileptic encephalopathy-5. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Gene Name: Spectrin Alpha, Non-erythrocytic 1

Chromosome: CHR9: 131314836 -131395944

Locus: 9q34.11

DOLPP1 Gene Summary

A similar gene has been characterized in mice and encodes dolichyl pyrophosphate (Dol-P-P) phosphatase. This protein dephosphorylates dolichyl pyrophosphate so that it may be re-utilized as a glycosyl carrier lipid by the oligosaccharyltransferase multisubunit complex in the ER. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants and protein isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]

Gene Name: Dolichyldiphosphatase 1

Chromosome: CHR9: 131843382 -131852717

Locus: 9q34.11
