DHX8-FMO5 Fusion FISH Probe
The DHX8-FMO5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the DHX8 and FMO5 genes. The fusion of the DHX8 and FMO5 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

DHX8 Gene Summary
This gene is a member of the DEAH box polypeptide family. The encoded protein contains the DEAH (Asp-Glu-Ala-His) motif which is characteristic of all DEAH box proteins, and is thought to function as an ATP-dependent RNA helicase that regulates the release of spliced mRNAs from spliceosomes prior to their export from the nucleus. This protein may be required for the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
Gene Name: DEAH-box Helicase 8
Chromosome: CHR17: 41561333 -41601680
Locus: 17q21.31
FMO5 Gene Summary
Metabolic N-oxidation of the diet-derived amino-trimethylamine (TMA) is mediated by flavin-containing monooxygenase and is subject to an inherited FMO3 polymorphism in man resulting in a small subpopulation with reduced TMA N-oxidation capacity resulting in fish odor syndrome Trimethylaminuria. Three forms of the enzyme, FMO1 found in fetal liver, FMO2 found in adult liver, and FMO3 are encoded by genes clustered in the 1q23-q25 region. Flavin-containing monooxygenases are NADPH-dependent flavoenzymes that catalyzes the oxidation of soft nucleophilic heteroatom centers in drugs, pesticides, and xenobiotics. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]
Gene Name: Flavin Containing Monooxygenase 5
Chromosome: CHR1: 146655883 -146697230
Locus: 1q21.1
