CYTH3-SPATA18 Fusion FISH Probe
The CYTH3-SPATA18 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CYTH3 and SPATA18 genes. The fusion of the CYTH3 and SPATA18 genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CYTH3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the PSCD (pleckstrin homology, Sec7 and coiled-coil domains) family. PSCD family members have identical structural organization that consists of an N-terminal coiled-coil motif, a central Sec7 domain, and a C-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain. The coiled-coil motif is involved in homodimerization, the Sec7 domain contains guanine-nucleotide exchange protein (GEP) activity, and the PH domain interacts with phospholipids and is responsible for association of PSCDs with membranes. Members of this family appear to mediate the regulation of protein sorting and membrane trafficking. This encoded protein is involved in the control of Golgi structure and function, and it may have a physiological role in regulating ADP-ribosylation factor protein 6 (ARF) functions, in addition to acting on ARF1. SPATA18 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a p53-inducible protein that is able to induce lysosome-like organelles within mitochondria that eliminate oxidized mitochondrial proteins, thereby contributing to mitochondrial quality control. Dysregulation of mitochondrial quality control is associated with cancer and degenerative diseases. The encoded protein mediates accumulation of the lysosome-like mitochondrial organelles through interaction with B cell lymphoma 2 interacting protein 3 and B cell lymphoma 2 interacting protein 3 like at the outer mitochondrial membrane, which allows translocation of lysosomal proteins to the mitochondrial matrix from the cytosol. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]
