CYP39A1-FGGY Fusion FISH Probe
The CYP39A1-FGGY Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CYP39A1 and FGGY genes. The fusion of the CYP39A1 and FGGY genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CYP39A1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This endoplasmic reticulum protein is involved in the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids. Its substrates include the oxysterols 25-hydroxycholesterol, 27-hydroxycholesterol and 24-hydroxycholesterol. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Gene Name: Cytochrome P450 Family 39 Subfamily A Member 1
Chromosome: CHR6: 46517444 -46620523
Locus: 6p12.3
FGGY Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that phosphorylates carbohydrates such as ribulose, ribitol, and L-arabinitol. Genome-wide association studies in some populations have found an association between polymorphisms in this gene and sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, but studies of other populations have not been able to replicate this association. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
Gene Name: FGGY Carbohydrate Kinase Domain Containing
Chromosome: CHR1: 59762624 -60228402
Locus: 1p32.1
