CTTN-KIRREL3 Fusion FISH Probe
The CTTN-KIRREL3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CTTN and KIRREL3 genes. The fusion of the CTTN and KIRREL3 genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

CTTN Gene Summary
This gene is overexpressed in breast cancer and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck. The encoded protein is localized in the cytoplasm and in areas of the cell-substratum contacts. This gene has two roles: (1) regulating the interactions between components of adherens-type junctions and (2) organizing the cytoskeleton and cell adhesion structures of epithelia and carcinoma cells. During apoptosis, the encoded protein is degraded in a caspase-dependent manner. The aberrant regulation of this gene contributes to tumor cell invasion and metastasis. Three splice variants that encode different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Name: Cortactin
Chromosome: CHR11: 70244611 -70282690
Locus: 11q13.3
KIRREL3 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the nephrin-like protein family. These proteins are expressed in fetal and adult brain, and also in podocytes of kidney glomeruli. The cytoplasmic domains of these proteins interact with the C-terminus of podocin, also expressed in the podocytes, cells involved in ensuring size- and charge-selective ultrafiltration. The protein encoded by this gene is a synaptic cell adhesion molecule with multiple extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a cytoplasmic PDZ domain-binding motif. Mutations in this gene are associated with several neurological and cognitive disorders. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
