CTTN-DSG1 Fusion FISH Probe
The CTTN-DSG1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CTTN and DSG1 genes. The fusion of the CTTN and DSG1 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

DSG1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the desmoglein protein subfamily. Desmogleins, along with desmocollins, are cadherin-like transmembrane glycoproteins that are major components of the desmosome. Desmosomes are cell-cell junctions that help resist shearing forces and are found in high concentrations in cells subject to mechanical stress. This gene is found in a cluster with other desmoglein family members on chromosome 18. The encoded protein has been identified as a target of auto-antibodies in the autoimmune skin blistering disease pemphigus foliaceus. Disruption of this gene has also been associated with the skin diseases palmoplantar keratoderma and erythroderma. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2015]
Gene Name: Desmoglein 1
Chromosome: CHR18: 28898051 -28937393
Locus: 18q12.1
CTTN Gene Summary
This gene is overexpressed in breast cancer and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck. The encoded protein is localized in the cytoplasm and in areas of the cell-substratum contacts. This gene has two roles: (1) regulating the interactions between components of adherens-type junctions and (2) organizing the cytoskeleton and cell adhesion structures of epithelia and carcinoma cells. During apoptosis, the encoded protein is degraded in a caspase-dependent manner. The aberrant regulation of this gene contributes to tumor cell invasion and metastasis. Three splice variants that encode different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Name: Cortactin
Chromosome: CHR11: 70244611 -70282690
Locus: 11q13.3
