COL3A1-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe
The COL3A1-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the COL3A1 and SUPT16H genes. The fusion of the COL3A1 and SUPT16H genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

COL3A1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes the pro-alpha1 chains of type III collagen, a fibrillar collagen that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, uterus, intestine and the vascular system, frequently in association with type I collagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome types IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Two transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene. [provided by R. Dalgleish, Feb 2008]
Gene Name: Collagen Type III Alpha 1 Chain
Chromosome: CHR2: 189839098 -189877472
Locus: 2q32.2
SUPT16H Gene Summary
Transcription of protein-coding genes can be reconstituted on naked DNA with only the general transcription factors and RNA polymerase II. However, this minimal system cannot transcribe DNA packaged into chromatin, indicating that accessory factors may facilitate access to DNA. One such factor, FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription), interacts specifically with histones H2A/H2B to effect nucleosome disassembly and transcription elongation. FACT is composed of an 80 kDa subunit and a 140 kDa subunit; this gene encodes the 140 kDa subunit. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
Gene Name: SPT16 Homolog, Facilitates Chromatin Remodeling Subunit
Chromosome: CHR14: 21819630 -21852425
Locus: 14q11.2
