COL3A1-C7 Fusion FISH Probe
The COL3A1-C7 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the COL3A1 and C7 genes. The fusion of the COL3A1 and C7 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

C7 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a serum glycoprotein that forms a membrane attack complex together with complement components C5b, C6, C8, and C9 as part of the terminal complement pathway of the innate immune system. The protein encoded by this gene contains a cholesterol-dependent cytolysin/membrane attack complex/perforin-like (CDC/MACPF) domain and belongs to a large family of structurally related molecules that form pores involved in host immunity and bacterial pathogenesis. This protein initiates membrane attack complex formation by binding the C5b-C6 subcomplex and inserts into the phospholipid bilayer, serving as a membrane anchor. Mutations in this gene are associated with a rare disorder called C7 deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2016]
Gene Name: Complement C7
Chromosome: CHR5: 40909598 -40983042
Locus: 5p13.1
COL3A1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes the pro-alpha1 chains of type III collagen, a fibrillar collagen that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, uterus, intestine and the vascular system, frequently in association with type I collagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome types IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Two transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene. [provided by R. Dalgleish, Feb 2008]
Gene Name: Collagen Type III Alpha 1 Chain
Chromosome: CHR2: 189839098 -189877472
Locus: 2q32.2
