CNST-SMYD3 Fusion FISH Probe
The CNST-SMYD3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CNST and SMYD3 genes. The fusion of the CNST and SMYD3 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

SMYD3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a histone methyltransferase which functions in RNA polymerase II complexes by an interaction with a specific RNA helicase. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
Gene Name: SET And MYND Domain Containing 3
Chromosome: CHR1: 245912641 -246670644
Locus: 1q44
CNST Gene Summary
Targeting of numerous transmembrane proteins to the cell surface is thought to depend on their recognition by cargo receptors that interact with the adaptor machinery for anterograde traffic at the distal end of the Golgi complex. Consortin (CNST) is an integral membrane protein that acts as a binding partner of connexins, the building blocks of gap junctions, and acts as a trans-Golgi network (TGN) receptor involved in connexin targeting to the plasma membrane and recycling from the cell surface (del Castillo et al., 2010 [PubMed 19864490]).[supplied by OMIM, Jun 2010]
Gene Name: Consortin, Connexin Sorting Protein
Chromosome: CHR1: 246729638 -246831884
Locus: 1q44
