CDC14A-DEFB135 Fusion FISH Probe
The CDC14A-DEFB135 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CDC14A and DEFB135 genes. The fusion of the CDC14A and DEFB135 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CDC14A Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the dual specificity protein tyrosine phosphatase family. It is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc14, a protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in the exit of cell mitosis and initiation of DNA replication, suggesting a role in cell cycle control. This protein has been shown to interact with, and dephosphorylate tumor suppressor protein p53, and is thought to regulate the function of p53. Alternative splicing of this gene results in several transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Cell Division Cycle 14A
Chromosome: CHR1: 100818022 -100985833
Locus: 1p21.2
DEFB135 Gene Summary
Defensins are cysteine-rich cationic polypeptides that are important in the immunologic response to invading microorganisms. The antimicrobial protein encoded by this gene is secreted and is a member of the beta defensin protein family. Beta defensin genes are found in several clusters throughout the genome, with this gene mapping to a cluster at 8p23. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]
