CAPN5-EPB41L1 Fusion FISH Probe
The CAPN5-EPB41L1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CAPN5 and EPB41L1 genes. The fusion of the CAPN5 and EPB41L1 genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CAPN5 Gene Summary
Calpains are calcium-dependent cysteine proteases involved in signal transduction in a variety of cellular processes. A functional calpain protein consists of an invariant small subunit and 1 of a family of large subunits. CAPN5 is one of the large subunits. Unlike some of the calpains, CAPN5 and CAPN6 lack a calmodulin-like domain IV. Because of the significant similarity to Caenorhabditis elegans sex determination gene tra-3, CAPN5 is also called as HTRA3. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Calpain 5
Chromosome: CHR11: 76777991 -76837198
Locus: 11q13.5
EPB41L1 Gene Summary
Erythrocyte membrane protein band 4.1 (EPB41) is a multifunctional protein that mediates interactions between the erythrocyte cytoskeleton and the overlying plasma membrane. The encoded protein binds and stabilizes D2 and D3 dopamine receptors at the neuronal plasma membrane. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Gene Name: Erythrocyte Membrane Protein Band 4.1 Like 1
Chromosome: CHR20: 34700347 -34820721
Locus: 20q11.23
