CANX-IL1R2 Fusion FISH Probe
The CANX-IL1R2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the CANX and IL1R2 genes. The fusion of the CANX and IL1R2 genes has been associated with Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma . These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CANX Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the calnexin family of molecular chaperones. The encoded protein is a calcium-binding, endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated protein that interacts transiently with newly synthesized N-linked glycoproteins, facilitating protein folding and assembly. It may also play a central role in the quality control of protein folding by retaining incorrectly folded protein subunits within the ER for degradation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Calnexin
Chromosome: CHR5: 179125929 -179158639
Locus: 5q35.3
IL1R2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine receptor that belongs to the interleukin 1 receptor family. This protein binds interleukin alpha (IL1A), interleukin beta (IL1B), and interleukin 1 receptor, type I(IL1R1/IL1RA), and acts as a decoy receptor that inhibits the activity of its ligands. Interleukin 4 (IL4) is reported to antagonize the activity of interleukin 1 by inducing the expression and release of this cytokine. This gene and three other genes form a cytokine receptor gene cluster on chromosome 2q12. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants and protein isoforms. Alternative splicing produces both membrane-bound and soluble proteins. A soluble protein is also produced by proteolytic cleavage. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]
Gene Name: Interleukin 1 Receptor Type 2
Chromosome: CHR2: 102608305 -102644884
Locus: 2q11.2
