BUB1B-EIF2AK4 Fusion FISH Probe
The BUB1B-EIF2AK4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the BUB1B and EIF2AK4 genes. The fusion of the BUB1B and EIF2AK4 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma, and Uterine Carcinosarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

BUB1B Gene Summary
This gene encodes a kinase involved in spindle checkpoint function. The protein has been localized to the kinetochore and plays a role in the inhibition of the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), delaying the onset of anaphase and ensuring proper chromosome segregation. Impaired spindle checkpoint function has been found in many forms of cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: BUB1 Mitotic Checkpoint Serine/threonine Kinase B
Chromosome: CHR15: 40453209 -40513337
Locus: 15q15.1
EIF2AK4 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of a family of kinases that phosphorylate the alpha subunit of eukaryotic translation initiation factor-2 (EIF2), resulting in the downregulaton of protein synthesis. The encoded protein responds to amino acid deprivation by binding uncharged transfer RNAs. It may also be activated by glucose deprivation and viral infection. Mutations in this gene have been found in individuals suffering from autosomal recessive pulmonary venoocclusive-disease-2. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2 Alpha Kinase 4
Chromosome: CHR15: 40226346 -40327797
Locus: 15q15.1
