BGN-SEC63 Fusion FISH Probe
The BGN-SEC63 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the BGN and SEC63 genes. The fusion of the BGN and SEC63 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

BGN Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein, which plays a role in bone growth, muscle development and regeneration, and collagen fibril assembly in multiple tissues. This protein may also regulate inflammation and innate immunity. Additionally, the encoded protein may contribute to atherosclerosis and aortic valve stenosis in human patients. This gene and the related gene decorin are thought to be the result of a gene duplication. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]
Gene Name: Biglycan
Chromosome: CHRX: 152760346 -152775004
Locus: Xq28
SEC63 Gene Summary
The Sec61 complex is the central component of the protein translocation apparatus of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. The protein encoded by this gene and SEC62 protein are found to be associated with ribosome-free SEC61 complex. It is speculated that Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 may perform post-translational protein translocation into the ER. The Sec61-Sec62-Sec63 complex might also perform the backward transport of ER proteins that are subject to the ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent degradation pathway. The encoded protein is an integral membrane protein located in the rough ER. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
