BCAT2-IRF3 Fusion FISH Probe
The BCAT2-IRF3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the BCAT2 and IRF3 genes. The fusion of the BCAT2 and IRF3 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

BCAT2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a branched chain aminotransferase found in mitochondria. The encoded protein forms a dimer that catalyzes the first step in the production of the branched chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Gene Name: Branched Chain Amino Acid Transaminase 2
Chromosome: CHR19: 49298318 -49314320
Locus: 19q13.33
IRF3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) family. The encoded protein is found in an inactive cytoplasmic form that upon serine/threonine phosphorylation forms a complex with CREBBP. This complex translocates to the nucleus and activates the transcription of interferons alpha and beta, as well as other interferon-induced genes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]
Gene Name: Interferon Regulatory Factor 3
Chromosome: CHR19: 50162825 -50169132
Locus: 19q13.33
