B2M-PPP4R1 Fusion FISH Probe
The B2M-PPP4R1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the B2M and PPP4R1 genes. The fusion of the B2M and PPP4R1 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

B2M Gene Summary
This gene encodes a serum protein found in association with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I heavy chain on the surface of nearly all nucleated cells. The protein has a predominantly beta-pleated sheet structure that can form amyloid fibrils in some pathological conditions. The encoded antimicrobial protein displays antibacterial activity in amniotic fluid. A mutation in this gene has been shown to result in hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2014]
Gene Name: Beta-2-microglobulin
Chromosome: CHR15: 45003684 -45010357
Locus: 15q21.1
PPP4R1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes one of several alternate regulatory subunits of serine/threonine protein phosphatase 4 (PP4). The protein features multiple HEAT repeats. This protein forms a complex with PP4RC. This complex may have a distinct role from other PP4 complexes, including regulation of HDAC3 (Zhang et al., PMID: 15805470). There is also a transcribed pseudogene on chromosome 20. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]
Gene Name: Protein Phosphatase 4 Regulatory Subunit 1
Chromosome: CHR18: 9546791 -9614600
Locus: 18p11.22
