ARHGAP23-STARD3 Fusion FISH Probe
The ARHGAP23-STARD3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ARHGAP23 and STARD3 genes. The fusion of the ARHGAP23 and STARD3 genes has been associated with Rectum Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

STARD3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of a subfamily of lipid trafficking proteins that are characterized by a C-terminal steroidogenic acute regulatory domain and an N-terminal metastatic lymph node 64 domain. The encoded protein localizes to the membranes of late endosomes and may be involved in exporting cholesterol. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
Gene Name: StAR Related Lipid Transfer Domain Containing 3
Chromosome: CHR17: 37793332 -37820454
Locus: 17q12
ARHGAP23 Gene Summary
The RHO (see ARHA; MIM 165390) family of small GTPases are involved in signal transduction through transmembrane receptors, and they are inactive in the GDP-bound form and active in the GTP-bound form. GTPase-activating proteins, such as ARHGAP23, inactivate RHO family proteins by stimulating their hydrolysis of GTP (Katoh and Katoh, 2004 [PubMed 15254754]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene Name: Rho GTPase Activating Protein 23
Chromosome: CHR17: 36584719 -36668628
Locus: 17q12
