APOE-DSP Fusion FISH Probe
The APOE-DSP Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the APOE and DSP genes. The fusion of the APOE and DSP genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

APOE Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a major apoprotein of the chylomicron. It binds to a specific liver and peripheral cell receptor, and is essential for the normal catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. This gene maps to chromosome 19 in a cluster with the related apolipoprotein C1 and C2 genes. Mutations in this gene result in familial dysbetalipoproteinemia, or type III hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP III), in which increased plasma cholesterol and triglycerides are the consequence of impaired clearance of chylomicron and VLDL remnants. Gene Name: Apolipoprotein E
Chromosome: CHR19: 45409038 -45412650
Locus: 19q13.32
DSP Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that anchors intermediate filaments to desmosomal plaques and forms an obligate component of functional desmosomes. Mutations in this gene are the cause of several cardiomyopathies and keratodermas, including skin fragility-woolly hair syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Gene Name: Desmoplakin
Chromosome: CHR6: 7541869 -7586946
Locus: 6p24.3
