APLP2-KCNJ5 Fusion FISH Probe
The APLP2-KCNJ5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the APLP2 and KCNJ5 genes. The fusion of the APLP2 and KCNJ5 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

APLP2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes amyloid precursor- like protein 2 (APLP2), which is a member of the APP (amyloid precursor protein) family including APP, APLP1 and APLP2. This protein is ubiquitously expressed. It contains heparin-, copper- and zinc- binding domains at the N-terminus, BPTI/Kunitz inhibitor and E2 domains in the middle region, and transmembrane and intracellular domains at the C-terminus. This protein interacts with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. The synergy of this protein and the APP is required to mediate neuromuscular transmission, spatial learning and synaptic plasticity. This protein has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. KCNJ5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an integral membrane protein which belongs to one of seven subfamilies of inward-rectifier potassium channel proteins called potassium channel subfamily J. The encoded protein is a subunit of the potassium channel which is homotetrameric. It is controlled by G-proteins and has a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into a cell rather than out of a cell. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with aldosterone-producing adenomas. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
