MYC translocation is the hallmark of BL, occurring in all cases of all 3 BL subtypes. This disease-initiating rearrangement typically occurs in patients with simple karyotypes lacking additional alterations.
MYC/IGH fusion is the sole karyotypic abnormality in approximately 40% of BL cases. The fusion subjects MYC to the IGH enhancer, resulting in MYC deregulation.
