Empire Genomics has developed a range of fluorescently labeled probes for in situ hybridization testing. Empire’s products are used by both researchers and clinicians to provide high quality genetic test results. Empire is developing further products in the cancer and genetic testing markets. Its first-in-class multi-color panel products offer improved ease-of-use and information content for cytogenetics. Empire’s recently launched immuno-oncology products are helping to resolve appropriate uses for this exciting new cancer treatment paradigm. Empire collaborates broadly with opinion leaders to specify, develop, validate, and publish new tests.

Job Description

Empire is seeking a principal scientist to guide new product and technology development, and to act as an external scientific expert for Empire’s FISH products. The principal scientist will have strong connections in the cytogenetics community and will seek and manage new product development collaborations with partners. The principal scientist will have a strong understanding of FISH technology and customer needs, ideally through end-user experience and/or hands-on product development. He/she will work to develop new FISH protocols including enhanced fluorescent probe labeling and tissue analysis protocols, and implementation of these internally and externally. Working with the marketing team, he/she will develop scientifically driven promotional materials. Working with the sales team, he/she will represent the company scientifically with key customers and partners. He/she will present collaborator and new product results at conferences and workshops globally.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• PhD/Masters in a Life Science discipline and a minimum of 10 years of product launch experience within the life science and/or clinical diagnostic industry, including experience with FISH technology
• Proven success working and publishing with industry key opinion leaders and partners
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• An entrepreneurial outlook to drive success in a small organization
