BPIFA2 FISH Probe

The BPIFA2 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the BPIFA2 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the palate, lung and nasal epithelium clone (Plunc) family of proteins. Members of this family have been proposed to play a role in the local antibacterial response in nose, mouth and upper respiratory pathways. The encoded soluble salivary protein binds bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and inhibits bacterial growth. This gene is present in a gene cluster on chromosome 20. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
